What’s The Fastest And Easiest Way To Make Money Right Now?
One thing I get asked all the time by artists and producers is “what’s the fastest and easiest way to make money right now?”
Usually that sort of question makes me die a little inside and want to slap you across the face with a wet fish. Why? Because it pretty much diminishes the years and years of graft, grit and sacrifice I and countless other artists have put into their work to get to where we are today.
Nonetheless, I’ve decided to answer it for you…
If you want to make fast and easy money RIGHT NOW, then the best way to do that is to make money for other people.
“Wait” you say, “Anno you’re tripping. How am I supposed to make money by lining other people’s pockets?”
Well I’m glad you asked. The reason some artists and producers make a lot of money and you don’t is because they have built up a big network of contacts, they have scores of fans and followers, they have a well-known brand and they’re respected in their field and are considered an authority figure. For such individuals it’s easy to monetize their success by leveraging these factors. That’s why you have people like Dr. Dre making billions from selling headphones and 50 Cent drinking himself stupid rich with vitamin water.
If you want to get to that level it will take you years, decades even, and a whole lot of hard work and fortune. So if it’s fast and easy money you’re after, here’s what you do: instead of building up your own fame, you leverage someone else’s. Boom.
What does that mean? It means you reach out to those big-shot artists and producers, you make them a collaboration offer they can’t refuse by earning THEM money and taking advantage of THEIR name and followers, and you take yourself a commission.
No one is going to say no to free money – as long as you present them with a valid and compelling idea and you do all the hard work.
Let me give you some examples: I’ve seen people make amazing money by becoming promoters and affiliates for other artists, by joining street teams and selling merchandise, by setting up new brands and businesses with celebrity artists as spokesmen and spokeswomen, by co-authoring books, by creating celebrity clothing lines, by selling beats to their own networks for other producers, by being middlemen in negotiating track and beat placements with other artists, movies or games, by brokering artist features and a whole lot more. Even I have had several individuals reach out to me in the past with proposals, and in several occasions those resulted in great projects and big checks for everyone. Happy days.
The possibilities are endless… And the real beauty of it is that you don’t need anything to get started. Just the courage to reach out.
Aside from the financial windfall, you might even find that working with the big names will open up all kinds of doors for success in your own right. This goes for all industries by the way, not just music. It doesn’t matter if you’re in fashion, fitness or pet food.
So the next time you’re stuck trying to struggle by on your own limited network and fame, stop being all self-righteous and proud and go make the big dogs some paper!
